This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our treatment facilities. Operators support daily plant operations, perform laboratory testing, maintain equipment, and help safeguard the quality of the community's water system. This is an hourly, full-time position reporting to the Executive Director. Our operators are essential to protecting public health and maintaining regulatory compliance. This position involves monitoring the performance of the day-to-day operations in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements and requires independent judgment in the proper operation of the facility. Key Responsibilities Operators perform a wide range of technical, operational, and maintenance tasks, including: SCADA software operation. Conducting daily laboratory work, trend, and log analysis, and preparing required reports performing the daily lab work, trend, and log analysis… evaluates data and writes reports as required. Running pH, chlorine, and other water quality tests Operating pumps, filters, departmental vehicles, and various tools and equipment Performing routine and major maintenance, including welding, cutting, and equipment repair Changing and filling chemical feeders Maintaining plant records, drawings, and schematics Training less-skilled operators and laborers Supporting distribution system tasks such as sampling, pump station maintenance, and water quality investigations Minimum Qualifications High school diploma Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License At least three years of experience in water treatment facility operations Ability to perform process control calculations, laboratory procedures, and equipment maintenance. General mechanical skills (electrical, plumbing, pipe fitting, welding, cutting) preferred but not required. PA DEP Class A E Water License with Subclasses 1, 2, 7, 8,10, 11 and 12 PA DEP Class A E Wastewater License with Subclasses 2 and 4 (preferred but not required) Ability to work cooperatively with staff and the public. Strong preference for applicants who hold both a Water & Wastewater Operator Licenses; and applicants who hold the PA DEP Subclass 5 Laboratory Supervisor certification. $

Pay and Benefits Starting Pay Rate:

$27 to $31 per hour, DOQ.

Estimated Annual Salary Equivalent:

Work Environment:

Operators regularly work outdoors in varying weather conditions and may encounter hazards such as chemicals, noxious odors, high noise levels, and slippery surfaces. The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform climbing, kneeling, and other physical tasks.
