As an Environmental Wastewater Treatment Plant Chemist, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance of our oil plant operations. Role Summary:
This role provides oversight for treatment and processing of wastewater, oily water, and use oil through Eldredge's various treatment processes. This position reports to the Assistant Plant Manager and ensures the compliance of all Responsible Care® Management System codes and initiatives and performs various activities to complete assigned work in the oil plant.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety of the work completed by adhering to the environmental health & safety policies and procedures and identify any potentially unsafe conditions or procedures to the Plant Manager. Ensure proper housekeeping to maintain safe, efficient, and clean work areas in the oil plant, tank farms, and on the docks. Responsible for the processing of wastewater, oily waters, and used oils materials through the various treatment processes in Eldredge's plant. Required to collaborate and support with internal plant operations processes to ensure efficiency and compliance with treatment/recycling of water and oils. Wastewater & Oily Water Treatment Processing Perform Chemical Treatment Bench Testing Develop Treatment Recipes for wastewater and oily water treatment Work with Chemical Supplier to add additional chemicals for treatment as needed for improved process and quality of treatment Work on Plant Design to help improve processing and quality of treatment. Recording pertinent information regarding each batch processed Maintaining Clean and Safe work environment Perform wastewater treatment in bulk scale with a variety of treatment equipment and chemicals Responsible for the Filter Press Operations Developing Proper Procedures and Proper usage of filter press: Operate filter press in order to remove solids, Add required filter aid. Clean solids from press. Record pertinent information regarding each batch processed Used Oil Processing Develop Treatment Recipe for Used Oil Work with Chemical Supplier to add additional chemicals for oil treatment as needed for improved process and quality of treatment. Work on Plant Design to help improve oil processing and quality of treatment. Record pertinent information regarding each batch processed
Other Duties:
Assist with sampling, loading, and unloading as needed Act as back up to the Plant Technician on the dock Complete special projects as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Must successfully pass a drug screening and pre-employment physical. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold. Must be capable of lifting up to 60 lbs., as well as pulling, pushing, and carrying heavy objects. Frequent physical activities required, including climbing, walking, standing, sitting, lifting, pulling/pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, crawling, stooping, and crouching. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Physically able to actively participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings. Must be able to operate equipment, such as company vehicles, forklifts, etc. Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
Skills/Position Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED (General Educational Development) is required. Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred. Must have 3+ years of CWT or wastewater treatment experience in facilities management, plant operations, or related fields. Must have written & verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate across all mediums. Must be proficient in
Microsoft Office:
