POSITION DESCRIPTION
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class.   • Provides general unskilled and semi-skilled labor in the maintenance and construction of water and sewer utilities
  • Assists in the installation and maintenance of water lines, sewer lines, utility service lines, valves, fire hydrants, manholes and water meters
  • May operate associated equipment, such as air compressors, jackhammers, rock drills and similar equipment
  • May operate sewer vacuum/flushing equipment, sewer inspection and video equipment, boring machines, dump trucks, backhoes, tractors and similar equipment.
  • May handle explosives
  • May locate and mark underground utilities
  • Works overtime as required and serves on 24-hour on-call weekend
  • Performs other related duties as required
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED required, with some water and/or sewer maintenance experience preferred
  • Ability to utilize descriptive data and information such as regulations, blueprints, correspondence and general operating manuals
  • Ability to exert moderate to heavy physical stress in an outdoor utility maintenance and heavy construction environment
