Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Water Treatment Plant Operator to assist in the direction and operation of our water treatment facility. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water while maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring independent judgment, technical expertise, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Operate and regulate water treatment processes, including membrane filtration systems and chemical feed equipment. Monitor plant operations using manual and computerized control systems. Read, record, and maintain operational data, logs, reports, and charts. Collect water samples and perform bacteriological and chemical analyses of raw and treated water. Monitor and maintain water levels within the distribution system using remote monitoring systems. Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment. Assist with training Operator Assistants and oversee subordinate personnel as assigned. Respond to emergency situations and work overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED. Three (3) years of experience as a Water Treatment Plant Operator Assistant. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field. Required Certifications Valid State of Tennessee Grade IV Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification. State certification in bacteriological analysis may be required. Starting salary $49,920.00- $52,416.00 DOE/DOQ. Interested persons must submit an online application along with resume no later than July 17, 2026 by 4:30pm.
