Job Description

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Wastewater Treatment Superintendent, perform various analyses on wastewater samples in an accurate and timely manner.
Essential Job functions:
1. Performs various test such as CBOD, TSS, Ammonia Nitrogen, D.O., pH, E. coli, Water Bacteriology, Phosphorus and plant process control. 2. Collect, store, and preserve samples until analyses can be performed. 3. Calculate results of analyses performed. 4. Compile and record data. 5. Perform appropriate QA/QC analyses and maintain quality control charts. 6. Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment. 7. Operate wastewater plant. 8. Read flow meters. 9. Operate lift stations. 10. Assists in developing Wastewater Treatment budgets. 11. Performs other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Must possess a minimum of "C" wastewater certifications; "B" recommended. Must possess a minimum of Two (2) years' experience in Wastewater Treatment. Must possess current working knowledge of laboratory principles and safety. Must possess a working knowledge of personal computers and peripheral office equipment. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and public. Must be able to perform mathematical calculations for volumes, dosages, etc.; Must possess a State of Texas Class C driver's license and a safe driving record.
Work Environment:
Majority of work is performed in a controlled laboratory environment with possible exposure to chemicals, bacteria, and hot liquids; possible exposure to inclement weather; may work variable hours and weekends.
Physical Condition:
Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time in the process of collecting and analyzing samples. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds. Hearing and vision must be satisfactory to the degree that duties may be performed effectively and safely.
