Job Description

The City of Chico is seeking a qualified and experienced Full-Time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to oversee the operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the City's wastewater treatment facilities and collection system.
Qualifications:
Position Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain the City's wastewater treatment plant and related equipment. Monitor treatment processes and perform required testing and sampling. Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations, including reporting requirements. Inspect, maintain, and repair wastewater collection system components. Maintain accurate operational records and logs. Respond to after-hours emergencies and system alarms as needed. Coordinate with regulatory agencies and assist during inspections. Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment and facilities. Assist with other Public Works duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Class C Wastewater Operators License or ability to obtain Class C. Possession of all licenses and certifications necessary to independently operate the City's wastewater treatment facility. Valid Texas Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record. Working knowledge of TCEQ regulations, wastewater treatment processes, and safety procedures. Ability to operate equipment, perform maintenance tasks, and work in various weather conditions. Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Multiple TCEQ certifications. Experience operating a municipal wastewater treatment plant. Mechanical, electrical, or utility maintenance experience. Collection system maintenance experience.
