Typical responsibilities include:

Collect and test water samples to ensure quality and safety standards Monitor water treatment processes and adjust chemical levels as needed Operate and maintain pumps, valves, filtration systems, and treatment equipment Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on water systems Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform repairs when necessary Maintain logs, reports, and compliance documentation Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations Respond to emergencies such as system failures or leaks Use lab equipment and computer systems to analyze data and system performance [ziprecruiter.com], [interviewprep.org] Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Technical training in water/wastewater systems (preferred) Knowledge of plumbing, mechanical systems, or water treatment processes Ability to operate tools, machinery, and lab equipment Strong problem-solving and attention to detail Valid drivers license (Preferred) State certification (Water Operator / Wastewater Operator) Work Environment Work may be performed in treatment plants, warehouses, or outdoors Exposure to chemicals, machinery, and varying weather conditions May require lifting, standing, and working in confined spaces On-call or rotating shifts may be required
