What You'll Do As a Utilities Technician, you'll help maintain and operate the district's water distribution and wastewater collection systems while ensuring reliable service for the community. Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair water and sewer lines, mains, and related equipment
Assist with maintenance and minor repairs on pumps, motors, machinery, and utility equipment
Read residential and commercial water meters and record usage accurately
Operate light equipment including tractors, mowers, augers, and other maintenance tools
Perform general labor including digging, backfilling, loading, unloading, and site cleanup
Assist with repairs to water and wastewater treatment, storage, and distribution equipment
Perform routine building, grounds, and janitorial maintenance
Help inspect, maintain, and repair district vehicles and equipment
Respond professionally to customer service requests and resident concerns
Follow all safety procedures and maintain accurate records
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Valid driver's license with a good driving record
Ability to obtain a Texas Class C Water Operator and Wastewater Operator License
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication and customer service skills
Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office, is preferred
Ability to lift 40+ pounds
Must pass a drug screening and annual physical examination
