Wastewater Technician Job Description The Wastewater Technician supports the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant within a food manufacturing facility. This role focuses on monitoring treatment processes, performing laboratory analyses, maintaining proper chemical levels, and assisting with the upkeep and repair of wastewater equipment to ensure regulatory compliance and reliable plant performance. Essential Skills At least 3 years of experience working as a wastewater technician. At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of wastewater systems and wastewater treatment processes. Experience working in a wastewater treatment facility or with treatment plants. Ability to perform operations and maintenance tasks on wastewater treatment equipment. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand and power tools for equipment maintenance and repair. Experience with water treatment and related process monitoring. Wastewater certifications or the ability to obtain them within 12 months of employment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bilingual communication skills (preferred). Ability to accurately perform and interpret laboratory tests such as COD, TSS, and Total Solids Work Environment This role is based inside a food manufacturing plant, where adherence to safe food practices and site hygiene standards is required at all times. The typical schedule is 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed. Shift times may start earlier or extend later depending on plant issues and operational needs. You will work around industrial wastewater treatment equipment and laboratory testing areas, using hand and power tools and standard process monitoring instruments in a production-focused environment. . . . Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $30.00/hr.
