Job Description
Under general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, installation, inspection, and operational support activities for the City's water distribution and wastewater collection systems. This position assists in maintaining water mains, valves, hydrants, service lines, lift stations, manholes, gravity sewer lines, and related infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant utility services for residents and businesses. The employee responds to emergencies, participates in on-call rotations, performs preventive maintenance, and assists with utility construction and repair projects.
Qualifications:
Water Distribution System
Install, repair, and maintain water mains, service lines, valves, fire hydrants, meters, and related appurtenances.
Locate and repair water leaks and service line failures.
Assist with water main tie-ins, taps, and emergency repairs.
Operate valves and hydrants during maintenance activities.
Perform flushing programs to maintain water quality.
Assist with water meter installations, replacements, and troubleshooting.
Locate underground utilities as required.
Wastewater Collection System
Inspect, clean, and maintain gravity sewer mains, manholes, and service connections.
Assist with sewer stoppage investigations and emergency response.

Operate sewer cleaning equipment including jetters and vacuum trucks.
Perform lift station inspections and basic maintenance.
Assist with CCTV inspections and collection system assessments.
Identify infiltration, inflow, and structural deficiencies within the sewer system.
Maintenance & Operations
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, tools, pumps, generators, and utility infrastructure.
Assist with excavation, trenching, shoring, and restoration activities.
Operate construction and maintenance equipment including:
o Backhoes
o Excavators
o Loaders
o Dump trucks
o Pumps
o Compressors
o Generators
Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, and inspection reports.
Assist with inventory control and material management.
Participate in emergency response activities during utility outages, storms, flooding events, and other emergencies.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all City safety policies and procedures.
Comply with OSHA, TCEQ, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow confined space entry, lockout/tagout, trench safety, and traffic control requirements.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
Work in confined spaces, trenches, and excavations.
Stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, and bend for extended periods.
Work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, rain, and adverse weather conditions.
Ability to work around wastewater, chemicals, traffic, and construction environments.
Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies and participate in an on-call rotation.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required.
One (1) year of experience in water distribution, wastewater collection, construction, public works, utility maintenance, or related field.
Valid Texas Driver's License.
Ability to obtain a Texas Class "D" Water Distribution License within 12 months of employment.
Ability to obtain a Texas Class I Wastewater Collection License within 12 months of employment.
Municipal utility experience preferred.
Texas Class D Water Distribution License, Texas Class I Wastewater Collection License, Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) are preferred. Link to Application Email completed application to
