Job Description
The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Pump & Motor Technician in the Utilities Department. Why Should You Join Our Team? The Pump & Motor Technicians assist the Water Services Supervisor and Pump & Motor team with the repairs and preventative maintenance of sanitary sewer lift stations and other water and wastewater facilities. Employees may assist with the preventative maintenance, diagnostics and corrections of the city's collection, production and distribution facilities. At the City of Sugar Land, we have a career path allowing for growth and development within the Utilities Department. If you meet any one of the following requirements below, please apply today! Pump & Motor Technician Trainee ($20.20 - $23.23 per hour): No previous water or wastewater related experience is required Construction field experience preferred. High school Diploma or GED required. National incident Management System (ICMS) ICS-100.b, ICS-200, ICS700.a within three month Pump & Motor Technician I ($22.24 - $25.57 per hour): High school diploma or GED certificate Two years of experience in utility operations, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater facilities is required or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six months to one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Valid Class "C" Texas Drivers License Commercial Drivers License within 2 years of employment. Class 11 Wastewater license desired or should be obtained within 2 years of employment. The classroom training required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to take license exams will be scheduled during work hours and paid for by the Department. Pump & Motor Technician II ($24.53 - $28.20 per hour): No minimum experience required. Two years of experience in the pump and motor field or any equivalent combination of experience and training in water and wastewater utilities which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six months to one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Valid Class "C" Texas Drivers License Commercial Drivers License within 2 years of employment Class 2 collections or Wastewater C license within 2 years of employment. Class II Wastewater/Collection license desired or should be obtained within 2 years of employment. The citizens of Sugar Land depend on City employees before, during and after an emergency or disaster to provide or restore essential public services for the health, safety and quality of life for our community.
