Working knowledge of water treatment processes, testing procedures, and safety standards. Work Schedule Flexible, part-time schedule based on course offerings and program needs. SUMMARY:
Temple College is seeking a skilled industry professional to serve as a Part-Time Industrial Trainer for the Water Reclamation Certificate program, housed within the Texas Integrated Manufacturing and Engineering (TIME) Center at Temple College. This role supports the development of a highly skilled workforce prepared for careers in water treatment, reclamation, reuse systems, and environmental compliance—critical to supporting regional growth in advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, and infrastructure sectors. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in water or wastewater treatment, industrial water systems, or environmental operations. Instruction will emphasize real-world application, including operation of a closed-loop water reclamation training system, water quality testing, regulatory compliance, and system maintenance. Under general supervision from the Vice President of Workforce Development, the Industrial Trainer will deliver high-quality instruction, support lab operations, and contribute to workforce training initiatives aligned with industry and regulatory standards. Qualifications (Required and Preferred)
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree (or higher) OR relevant industry licensure/certification in water/wastewater treatment or related field Minimum of three (3) years of industry experience in: Water treatment or wastewater operations Industrial water systems or utilities Environmental or regulatory compliance Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Water or Wastewater Operator License or the ability to satisfy licensing requirements and earn within 90 days. Working knowledge of water treatment processes, testing procedures, and safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with industrial or municipal water systems, reclamation, or reuse processes. Familiarity with: Water quality testing equipment and lab procedures Pumps, filtration, reverse osmosis, or chemical treatment systems Prior teaching, training, or workforce instruction experience. Experience with OSHA or environmental health and safety standards. Job Duties and Responsibilities The incumbent will: Deliver instruction for courses within the Water Reclamation Certificate program (credit and/or non-credit). Provide hands-on training using lab-based and skid-mounted water reclamation systems. Teach core concepts including: Water treatment and reclamation processes Water quality testing and analysis System operations and maintenance Environmental regulations and compliance Support operation and maintenance of the water reclamation training lab, including closed-loop systems. Ensure adherence to safety protocols, environmental standards, and proper equipment use. Collaborate with Workforce & Continuing Education to deliver customized training for industry partners. Assist in development of short-term workforce credentials and industry-aligned training modules. Maintain accurate student records and course documentation. Provide student support, mentoring, and career pathway guidance. Participate in program improvement efforts and industry engagement activities. Support recruitment, outreach, and demonstration events for the program. Perform additional duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE
Water and wastewater treatment systems and processes. Water reclamation and reuse technologies. Environmental regulations and compliance standards (TCEQ, EPA). Industrial safety practices and procedures.
SKILLS:
Instruction and hands-on training delivery. Technical troubleshooting and system operation. Effective communication (written and verbal). Organization and time management.
ABILITIES
Translate industry experience into practical training. Engage students in applied, lab-based learning. Adapt instruction to varying skill levels. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Moderate activity including standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs with assistance). Operation of lab equipment and tools required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in classroom and lab environments, including hands-on training with water systems, pumps, and treatment equipment within the TIME Center. Work Schedule & Hours Flexible, part-time schedule based on course offerings and program needs. May include evenings, weekends, and off-site industry training.
