Job Description

Job Overview •Wage considerations may be taken based on qualifications, certifications, or experience•Join our team as a Wastewater Operator and Street Maintenance Personnel, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining the health and safety of our community's water systems and public infrastructure. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work outdoors and in treatment facilities, ensuring wastewater is properly processed and streets are safe and well-maintained. You will operate heavy equipment, perform routine maintenance, and support water treatment processes with precision and care. Responsibilities Operate wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), to ensure efficient processing of sewage and industrial waste Conduct inspections of water treatment systems, monitoring distributed control systems (DCS) for optimal performance Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment, plumbing fixtures, and street infrastructure to prevent failures and extend asset lifespan Collect data on water quality parameters, process flows, and system performance for analysis and reporting purposes Operate heavy machinery such as loaders, plow trucks, or dump trucks for street repairs, debris removal, or construction projects Assist with construction activities related to infrastructure upgrades or new installations while adhering to safety protocols Perform heavy lifting tasks regularly, including moving equipment or materials needed for maintenance or construction projects Troubleshoot issues with mechanical systems, electrical controls, or plumbing to restore operations quickly and efficiently Maintain Village Park grounds and buildings to keep them safe, attractive and inviting to the public Maintenance of all Village buildings to include Village Hall, Library, Community Center, Village Shop and Mill. This may include cleaning, landscaping, snow removal and repairs. Build strong relationships with Village staff, residents, business owners, visitors, sales reps and contractors. Experience Prior experience working with wastewater treatment processes or water treatment facilities is highly desirable Hands-on experience with equipment repair, heavy equipment operation, plumbing, or construction projects will be advantageous Strong mechanical knowledge combined with basic math skills for measurements and calculations necessary in maintenance tasks Demonstrated analysis skills to interpret data collected from treatment systems or street maintenance activities Ability to perform physically demanding tasks involving heavy lifting and prolonged outdoor work in various weather conditions Familiarity with safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation, water treatment environments, and construction sites This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your technical skills while making a tangible impact on community health.
