Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Field Install Welder to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing on-site welding and fabrication projects across various customer sites. Your expertise will ensure that structural components, ductwork, piping, and sheet metal assemblies are installed accurately and efficiently, adhering to all safety standards and technical specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in diverse environments, utilizing your welding skills to contribute to large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects. Must be able to travel. Responsibilities Perform on-site welding using
MIG, TIG, FCAW
(Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and specific welding techniques to assemble structural steel, ductwork, piping, and sheet metal components. Ability to travel approximately 75% of the time, which will involve overnight stays. Mostly in the Midwest region of the U.S. but does include other parts of the U.S. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure precise fabrication and installation. Show up for work on time and ready for work. Utilize hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and other measurement instruments to verify dimensions and quality standards. Participate in pre and post planned readiness of parts and tools, for planned fit up and welding activities. Execute rigging, lifting, and crane operations safely to position heavy materials for welding and assembly tasks. Conduct plasma cutting, press brake machine operations, machining, soldering, and other fabrication processes as needed. Follow ASME codes & standards for welding procedures and quality assurance during installation projects. Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials while adhering to safety protocols at all times. Collaborate with project manager, administrative team, mechanical team, and other trades to ensure timely completion of installations within project specifications. Document work progress through detailed reports and logs; communicate any issues or delays promptly. Experience Proven construction site experience with a strong background in welding operations across industrial or commercial projects. Demonstrated proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), welding techniques. Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and technical drawings essential for precise installation. Hands-on experience with rigging equipment such as cranes; ability to operate forklifts safely when required. Knowledge of mechanical systems including pipe threading, fabrication of ductwork or sheet metal assemblies. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers for accurate measurements and assembly tasks. Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations related to fabrication dimensions. Understanding of safety standards including ASME codes & standards; commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
