Welder/Fabricator for Custom Gates and Ornamental Ironwork

Job Overview We build custom steel gates from the ground up, and we need a welder and fabricator who can turn a plan into a finished gate. You will spend most of your time in our Mesa shop laying out, cutting, fitting, and welding custom gates and ornamental ironwork, then help load, haul, hang, and finish those gates on site. This is a working shop. You take a build from layout to a clean, square, level finished gate, and you keep moving without someone standing over you. You will report to the Head of our Gates and Automation Division. Responsibilities Read and build from shop drawings and plans provided by the lead. Lay out, measure, cut, and fit steel for custom gates, entry gates, and ornamental ironwork. Weld frames and assemblies using MIG and flux core. Build square, level, and to spec. Grind, sand, and dress welds clean with a grinder and flap disc. Prep pieces for offsite powder coat. Cut and fit wood and composite infill, sand wood, and cut arches and decorative details. Load and transport gates and materials. Drive a company truck and tow a loaded trailer to job sites. Hang and level completed gates on site. Measure openings on site on the occasions the lead needs it. Keep your tools, materials, and work area clean, organized, and safe. What We're Looking For At least 5 years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience. Strong with MIG and flux core. Aluminum or TIG experience is a welcome bonus, not a requirement. Real experience building custom gates, entry or front gates, or other ornamental and architectural ironwork. This is custom and decorative work, not heavy structural only. Able to read shop drawings and build to spec without hand-holding. Accurate layout, measuring, cutting, and fitting. Your gates come out square, level, and clean. Proficient towing a trailer, including backing into tight residential driveways. Valid Arizona driver license and a clean driving record, since you will drive a company truck. Able to lift 100 lbs, stand and work on your feet all day, and work outdoors in Arizona summer heat. You work with purpose. You finish a build and know how to start the next step or project without being told. We train on our gate designs, our materials, and our process. What we cannot train is craftsmanship and the drive to actually build. Why This Role $19.50 to $28.00 per hour depending on skill and experience. Monday to Friday, 5:00am to 1:30pm with a half hour lunch.
