Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Welding Operator - Level 2 reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan, layout, and perform complex welding procedures. This role requires advanced welding skill, strong attention to detail, and mechanical aptitude to accurately produce parts, troubleshoot issues, and maintain quality and production requirements. This position supports turnaround by executing standard work with discipline, maintaining weld quality and safety, supporting daily production and shipment priorities, and remaining flexible across work centers to help convert backlog into on-time, shippable product.
Responsibilities:
Welding Execution & Quality
  • Perform MIG welding on a variety of sheet metal fabrication parts.
  • Perform TIG welding on aluminum and stainless-steel sheet metal fabrication parts.
  • Execute complex welding projects requiring advanced skill and precision.
  • Work from work orders, samples, drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Use measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions.
  • Consistently monitor product quality to maintain quality standards.
  • Identify parts for inspection as required as part of the overall quality control process.
  • Update travelers and system inputs accurately as required per job.
  • Maintain workplace housekeeping to provide a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Execute work in the correct priority and sequence to support daily production and shipment commitments. Operational Turnaround & Work-Center Flexibility
  • Actively support Fabcon's operational turnaround by: o Working the correct job, revision, and traveler o Following supervisor-assigned priorities o Avoiding unauthorized workarounds or self-directed sequencing
  • Remain flexible and available to work in different work centers or departments (including but not limited to deburr, grinding, assembly support, spot welding support, press brake support, material handling, or general shop support) when welding workload is low, delayed, or completed, in order to: o Support bottleneck or high-priority operations o Reduce WIP aging o Maintain continuous production flow toward shipment • Participate in cross-training activities as assigned.
Quality, System & Housekeeping Discipline
  • Perform basic visual inspections to ensure parts meet quality requirements.
  • Identify parts for inspection as required by quality procedures.
  • Accurately update travelers and system transactions as instructed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and standard work requirements. Essential Functions & Physical Requirements
  • Physical demands (lifting up to 35-50 lbs.) when needed.
  • Pushing up to 50lbs when needed
  • Loading and unloading material (25lbs)
  • Walking about 10%
  • Stationed about 85%
  • Knelling, squatting, bending, twisting when needed 5%
Skills:
  • Welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • MIG welding experience.
  • TIG welding experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to define, evaluate, and discuss quality workmanship related to welding.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Certified welder.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of production and manufacturing processes.
  • Detail-oriented with strong quality awareness.
  • Willingness to work early or late hours, weekends, and overtime if necessary.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Welding certification required.
Pay:
$25.74 - $30.00 per hour
