Job Description

Origin Engineering LLC is a vertically integrated engineering and manufacturing firm with in-house welding, machining, finishing, and assembly capabilities. We are
ISO 9001
certified and committed to delivering high-quality, precision-fabricated products for customers across a range of industries. We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated Welder Helper to support our welding department. This entry-level role assists welders and fitters with material preparation, part movement, and general production support. The Welder Helper plays a key role in maintaining a clean and efficient workflow on the shop floor. Responsibilities Assist welders and fabricators in staging, positioning, and holding parts during welding or tack-up operations. Use basic hand tools (grinders, wire brushes, chipping hammers) to clean welds, remove slag, and chip BBs and spatter from finished parts. Perform weld cleanup tasks to ensure surfaces are smooth, visually acceptable, and ready for finishing or painting. Retrieve materials, organize parts, and deliver components to workstations as directed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including sweeping, material disposal, and tool upkeep. Load, unload, and move parts between fabrication and finishing stations using carts, dollies, or hoists. Support Fit-Up Leads and Welders by ensuring fixtures, jigs, and consumables are prepared and accessible. Follow instructions from supervisors and complete tasks promptly and accurately. Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times in the welding and fabrication areas. Report material shortages, damaged components, or equipment issues to the Fabrication Lead or Supervisor. Participate in cross-training and assist other departments as needed based on production needs. Qualifications 0-1 year of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred. Willingness to learn fabrication and welding processes on the job. Basic understanding of hand tools, grinders, and material handling practices. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately. Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for extended periods. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and safety-minded approach. Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a team-focused environment. Additional Requirements Team-oriented, dependable, and punctual. Comfortable working in a fast-paced production setting. Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production deadlines. Commitment to personal development and continuous learning.
