Job Description

Job Title:
Welder Job Description The Welder sets up and performs high-quality MIG and TIG welds to precise tolerances in a production and fabrication environment. You receive training on specific processes and standards, but you are expected to work independently, read and interpret blueprints, and support both new builds and assembly work on stainless steel and other metals. Responsibilities Perform MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel and other metals to meet specific tolerances and quality standards. Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols to determine weld requirements, dimensions, and sequence of operations. Set up, operate, and adjust welding equipment and related tools for production, fabrication, and fitting tasks. Assemble and fit components prior to welding to ensure proper alignment, fit-up, and structural integrity. Inspect welds visually and with basic measuring tools to confirm accuracy, completeness, and adherence to specifications. Follow established production processes and workflows to support efficient manufacturing in a machine shop environment. Work independently after training to plan, organize, and complete welding tasks within required timelines. Collaborate with a small team to coordinate work, resolve fabrication issues, and maintain smooth shop operations. Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work area in clean, safe, and good working condition. Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while operating welding and fabrication equipment. Essential Skills Proven hands-on experience with MIG welding in a production or fabrication setting. Proven hands-on experience with TIG welding, including work on stainless steel components. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding drawings accurately. Demonstrated welding and fabrication skills, including fitting and assembly of metal components. Capability to work independently after initial training, managing daily welding tasks with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail to meet specific tolerances and quality requirements. Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine shop tools and practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working as a MIG welder in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. Background in production welding, including repetitive and high-volume work. Experience with stainless steel welding and fabrication. Ability to support both fabrication and assembly tasks as needed. Willingness to learn new welding techniques and shop processes through on-the-job training. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Danbury, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
