1st Shift Job Summary The Welder
- Level 2 is responsible for performing a wide range of welding and fabrication tasks with limited supervision.
This role requires solid experience in MIG and TIG welding, the ability to interpret blueprints, and growing independence in producing quality parts. The Level 2 Welder continues to develop advanced skills, including more complex fabrication techniques and process improvement, while supporting production for military and industrial applications. Key Responsibilities Welding and Fabrication Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and welding symbols to fabricate parts accurately. Set up parts, fixtures, and basic jigs to support production. Fabricate components with moderate complexity, working toward more advanced builds. Quality Control and Inspection Inspect welds and finished parts to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications. Use measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions. Identify and correct minor defects; escalate more complex issues as needed. Equipment Maintenance and Safety Set up, adjust, and maintain welding equipment and tooling. Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean and organized work area. Material Handling Safely handle and transport metal parts using carts, pallet jacks, and fork trucks, and cranes as needed. Collaboration and Development Work closely with senior welders and supervisors to improve techniques and efficiency. Continue developing skills in blueprint reading, fabrication methods, and welding processes. Contribute ideas for process and product continuous improvement Other production work as required
Qualifications and Skills Experience:
3-5 years of MIG and TIG welding experience (or equivalent combination of training and hands-on experience).
Certifications:
Ability and willingness to obtain AWS certification.
Technical Skills:
Ability to perform welding and fabrication tasks with moderate complexity and increasing independence.
Blueprint Reading:
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and work instructions. Attention to
Detail:
Strong focus on accuracy and quality of work.
Problem Solving:
Ability to identify issues and implement basic solutions.
Communication :
Good teamwork and communication skills; fluent in English. Physical Requirements The ability to perform the following physical demands is essential: Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift, push, or pull metal parts weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted. Physical strength and stamina to work in a production environment.
