Job Title:
TIG Welder - Stainless Steel Job Description This role focuses on high-precision TIG welding of thin-gauge stainless steel components in a climate-controlled shop environment. You will work primarily with 304 and 316 stainless steel using 308 stainless filler rod, producing clean, consistent welds on both straight and angular joints. The position involves equipment setup, blueprint reading, basic fabrication, and assembly work while maintaining high quality and safety standards. Responsibilities Perform high-precision TIG welding on thin-gauge stainless steel (.065") components. Weld stainless steel grades including 304 and 316 using 308 stainless filler rod. Set up and adjust TIG welding equipment, including amperage, gas flow, and filler selection. Read and interpret basic weld symbols, blueprints, and job instructions to complete work accurately. Produce clean, visually acceptable welds with minimal distortion or burn-through on straight and angular joints. Ensure all welds meet visual inspection and test requirements according to shop standards. Perform basic fabrication and assembly tasks as part of the overall production process. Operate and assist with sheet metal fabrication processes, including use of equipment such as press brakes when needed. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area. Work reliably within the scheduled shift and arrive on time to support team production goals. Essential Skills At least 2 years of recent TIG welding experience, preferably on stainless steel. Proficiency in TIG welding on thin-gauge stainless steel, including .065" material. Ability to weld stainless steel grades such as 304 and 316 using appropriate filler rod (e.g., 308 stainless). Strong torch control and heat management skills to minimize distortion and prevent burn-through. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, weld symbols, and job instructions. Experience producing clean, consistent welds on straight and angular joints. Basic fabrication and assembly experience in a metalworking or sheet metal environment. Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a clean work area. Reliability and punctuality to meet shift and production requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes. Familiarity with operating press brake equipment. MIG welding experience in addition to TIG welding. Ability and willingness to learn and develop skills further, including candidates recently Attention to detail and pride in producing visually high-quality welds. Ability to work collaboratively with a team of experienced welders. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in an air-conditioned, climate-controlled weld shop and plant environment. The typical shift runs from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with regular half-day work on Fridays, averaging approximately 45-48 hours per week. The welding work is steady but not excessively strenuous, and punctuality is essential to support team operations. The environment includes TIG welding stations, sheet metal fabrication areas, and equipment such as press brakes, with an emphasis on cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Apopka, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
