Job Title:
TIG Welder - Gas Turbine Alloys Job Description This role focuses on precision TIG welding on gas turbine components made from advanced alloys. You will set up and operate welding equipment, execute high-quality welds to tight technical specifications, and support new welding process trials in collaboration with engineering. Responsibilities Set up and install TIG and related welding equipment in accordance with job and safety requirements. Execute TIG welding on gas turbine components in line with detailed technical specifications and quality standards. Perform thorough quality checks on completed welds before confirming each production step. Prepare and confirm all required quality documentation for completed work. Accurately report production time used for each production step and maintain clear records. Set welding parameters, select appropriate consumable materials, and prepare workpieces for new welding process trials in partnership with engineering staff. Design and fabricate welding fixtures, chill blocks, and purge boxes as needed to support production and development work. Read and interpret blueprints to plan welds, fabrication steps, and fitting requirements. Perform fitting, fabrication, and layout work using tape measures, blueprints, and shop tools. Use pneumatic tools, belting, and grinding equipment to prepare and finish welds and components. Rotate between different departments to build a broad range of welding and fabrication skills. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and adherence to footwear and equipment standards. Participate in training on the primary shift before transitioning to alternative shift schedules as required. Essential Skills At least 2 years of hands-on TIG welding experience. Proven TIG welding experience on advanced materials such as nickel alloys, Inconel, Haynes alloys, cobalt, and stainless steel. Ability to pass an internal welding test within 90 days of employment. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints for welding and fabrication work. Experience with fabrication, including fitting and layout. Proficiency in using tape measures and standard shop measuring tools. Experience working with precious metals in a welding or fabrication environment. Experience using pneumatic tools, as well as belting and grinding for weld preparation and finishing. Demonstrated MIG welding and flux core welding experience is strongly preferred. Ability to perform production welding in a manufacturing or warehouse environment while meeting quality and throughput expectations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in welding or fabrication for turbine or similar high-specification components is beneficial. Comfort working with multiple welding processes, including TIG, MIG, and flux core, across a range of metals such as nickel alloys, carbon steel, stainless steel, and cobalt-based materials. Experience designing or modifying welding fixtures and tooling is a plus. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality documentation and recordkeeping. Willingness to rotate through different departments to expand skills and support production needs. Ability to train on a Monday-Thursday first-shift schedule for approximately three months before transitioning to an alternative shift. Reliability and flexibility to work overtime when needed. Work Environment This position is based in an air-conditioned production warehouse environment. Work is hands-on and shop-floor based, involving welding equipment, fabrication tools, pneumatic tools, belting, and grinding equipment. Multiple shifts are available, including first and second shift, with an additional schedule option consisting of Friday through Sunday 12-hour shifts (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., totaling 36 hours) with adjusted pay to approximate a 40-hour week and overtime paid at 1.5 times after 40 hours. New hires must commit to training on a Monday-Thursday first shift for approximately three months before transferring to an alternate schedule. Safety footwear is required and must meet ASTM F 2413-05 or
ANSI Z41-1999
standards, including impact/compression, electrical hazard, and static dissipative ratings. A clothing allowance supports appropriate work attire, including pants, shirts, and steel-toed boots. The environment is team-oriented, production-focused, and designed to build a wide range of skills through rotation across different departments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Palm Beach, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
