POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
At least 1 year of TIG welding experience in a production environment At least 2 years of experience reading a tape measure, identifying and measuring material Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to understand project specifications and welding requirements. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted Forklift certification preferred
CORE DUTIES
Perform TIG welds on aluminum and stainless steel in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions Set up welding equipment, including welding machines, torches, gas cylinders, and fixtures, and adjust settings as needed to achieve desired weld quality. Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, degreasing, grinding, and chamfering, removing rust, scale, and contaminants to ensure proper weld penetration and adhesion. Align and fit metal components and structures using clamps, jigs, and fixtures, ensuring proper positioning and alignment for welding. Monitor welding processes and parameters, including voltage, current, travel speed, and shielding gas flow, to maintain proper weld bead size, penetration, and quality. Examine weld for bead size and other specifications Inspect welds visually and using non-destructive testing methods (e.g., dye penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing) to detect defects, discontinuities, and imperfections. Perform weld repairs and rework as needed to correct defects and ensure weld quality meets industry standards and project specifications. Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jigs or fixtures Select torch, torch tip, filler ford, and flux according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of material Perform all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational hazards associated with welding operations. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing, to protect against hazards such as arc flash, sparks, and fumes. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and handling of welding equipment, tools, and materials. HOURS Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m.
