Job Description

Welder / Fabricator Job Description This role focuses on MIG welding with .045 wire on carbon and stainless steel to manufacture items from start to finish. You will read and interpret basic blueprints, assemble parts, and support production by operating material-handling and fabrication equipment as needed in a small, collaborative shop environment. Responsibilities Perform MIG welding using .045 wire on carbon and stainless steel components with consistent quality and adherence to specifications. Read and interpret basic blueprints to determine weld locations, dimensions, and assembly requirements. Assemble parts and fabricated components accurately according to blueprints and work instructions. Use a tape measure to verify dimensions, layout parts, and confirm finished part accuracy. Operate fabrication equipment such as a brake or drill press when welding work is completed or as production needs require. Assist in various areas of the shop, including running different machines such as a brake or shear to support the manufacturing process. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety procedures and shop guidelines. Collaborate with a small crew, communicate effectively about job status, and support team members as needed. Essential Skills Minimum of 6+ months of welding experience OR completion of an associate degree in welding. Proficiency in MIG welding, including experience with .045 wire. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints for welding and fabrication tasks. Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure for layout and inspection. Basic fabrication skills, including fitting and assembling parts according to specifications. Ability to safely operate or learn to operate an overhead crane and forklift as needed. Capability to operate fabrication equipment such as a brake or drill press when required. Willingness to assist in multiple areas of the shop and run different machines, including a brake or shear. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree in welding or related technical training is highly beneficial. Experience working in a fabrication or manufacturing environment. Comfort working with both carbon and stainless steel materials. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and assemblies. Ability to work effectively as part of a small, close-knit team. Flexibility to work overtime, including extended weekday shifts and voluntary Saturday hours, when needed. Why Work Here? The company offers comprehensive health benefits that are fully covered when you transition to direct employment, making your benefits essentially free. You will have the opportunity to share in the company's success through a strong profit-sharing program, which has consistently paid at the maximum level for the past several years. The culture emphasizes teamwork, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and long-term stability, with products shipped globally and steady demand for their work. Work Environment You will work in a small fabrication shop that is not climate controlled, so it can be very hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
