Welder Job Description Join a growing manufacturing team as a Welder responsible for MIG welding steel components used in portable traffic signal structures. You will read and interpret blueprints, assemble and weld steel parts, and help produce a variety of product models based on customer specifications. While your primary focus will be MIG welding, you may occasionally operate fabrication equipment such as CNC machines and press brakes, giving you exposure to different aspects of the production process. Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on steel components to assemble structures for portable traffic signal products. Read and interpret blueprints to understand dimensions, weld symbols, and assembly requirements for each unit. Measure and align parts accurately using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools before welding. Set up welding equipment, select appropriate settings, and ensure weld quality meets internal standards and customer requirements. Assemble and weld different product models, adapting to varying blueprints and customer specifications. Inspect welded components for accuracy, structural integrity, and overall quality, making adjustments as needed. Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and support changing priorities on the shop floor. Occasionally operate fabrication equipment such as CNC machines and press brakes when needed to support production. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety procedures and wearing required protective equipment. Assist with other tasks in the shop as needed, demonstrating a willingness to help wherever required and support a team-oriented environment. Essential Skills At least 1 year of MIG welding experience, specifically on steel components. Ability to read and interpret blueprints for fabrication and welding. Proficiency using a tape measure and basic measuring tools to ensure accurate layout and fit-up. Experience producing consistent, structurally sound welds in a production or fabrication environment. Ability to stand on your feet for 8 or more hours per day in a manufacturing setting. Comfort working with a variety of product models and adapting to different blueprints and configurations. Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to assist with tasks beyond core welding duties. Ability to follow safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with fabrication processes such as operating CNC machines and press brakes. Experience in manufacturing or metal fabrication environments. Attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality, accurate welds. Collaborative mindset with a positive attitude and good interpersonal skills to fit into a family-oriented culture. Work Environment This is a full-time, first-shift role with hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The team is currently very busy, so there may be occasional Saturday work; however, the company strives to keep these shifts short and maintains a strong focus on work-life balance. The facility employs around 30 people and is expanding, including a newly acquired building to support growth. You will work in a manufacturing shop environment focused on welding and fabrication of steel components, with exposure to MIG welding equipment, CNC machines, and press brakes. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, jeans, a T-shirt, and welding gloves, with additional safety gear provided as needed. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
