Full Job Description Job Title:
Certified Welder Job Summary:
The Certified Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding operations using specified processes and equipment to meet production demands. This role ensures all welds are strong, properly penetrated, smooth, non-porous, and consistent across a variety of assemblies. The position also requires adherence to applicable UL and ASME certification standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive work instructions from the lead person or supervisor and verify all components prior to beginning work. Set up machines, tools, and fixtures in accordance with routing, training guidelines, and engineering specifications. Perform welding operations, including Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, using manual, semi-automatic, and automatic equipment. Operate grinders, sanders, and related tools to remove excess material such as slag, splatter, or burrs, ensuring proper surface preparation prior to welding. Prepare and clean materials to ensure surfaces are free of scale, rust, grease, moisture, or other contaminants. Monitor welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, distortion, or material expansion. Select and install appropriate welding tools, torches, and tips based on job requirements and material specifications. Monitor gauges and gas levels to ensure proper operation of equipment. Accurately mark and tag components with heat codes and part numbers as required. Safely operate material handling equipment such as powered hand trucks, overhead cranes, and hoists. Perform routine operator maintenance and preventative maintenance on welding equipment. Document rework, scrap, and production data accurately in accordance with company procedures. Meet established production and quality standards. Maintain a clean, organized work area and comply with ISO and safety requirements. Complete and maintain all required documentation, including heat code records.
Required Qualifications:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including dimensions, weld locations, and specifications. Proficiency in reading and applying weld symbols as indicated on technical drawings. Strong understanding of welding processes, equipment, and safety standards.
Pay:
$22.30 - $22.70 per hour
