Job Description

Welder 1st $20-25 Job Description This role operates welding equipment to fabricate and assemble metal components according to blueprints and production specifications. The welder plans and executes welding tasks, ensures weld quality meets defined standards, and supports continuous improvement efforts within a modern, high-performing production environment. Responsibilities Operate welding machines that feed wire to bond metal materials according to job specifications. Interpret and read blueprints and production drawings to plan work and determine required welds. Determine appropriate welding positions and the type of metal to be fused for each job. Select, set up, and adjust welding equipment, tools, and materials to meet project requirements. Perform welds that meet established quality standards, specifications, and inspection criteria. Use measuring tools such as tape measures to verify dimensions and ensure accurate fabrication. Essential Skills Minimum 1 year of welding experience or completion of formal welding schooling. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production drawings. Proficiency in operating welding machines and related fabrication equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Certificate or Associate degree in welding is preferred. Work Environment The role is based in a newly expanded, modern manufacturing facility built in 2019. The workspace is climate-controlled, open, and spacious, with no tight or confined work areas, allowing comfortable movement and efficient workflow. Employees have access to locker bays with assigned lockers for personal belongings. The facility includes a brand new kitchen and market area where employees can purchase snacks and lunch items, as well as vending machines, contributing to a convenient and comfortable workday. The environment is very clean, organized, and well-kept. The position follows a 1st shift schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with mandatory overtime of approximately one hour after each shift and every other weekend, supporting steady work hours in a structured production setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hobart, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
