Job Description
Hours:
6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday We're seeking an experienced Welder in Kansas City, KS to join a growing fabrication team in a stable, associate-to-hire opportunity with great hours, a convenient location, and strong benefits upon hire. This role is ideal for someone with a steady work history, a positive, team-focused attitude, and proven skill in MIG welding who takes pride in producing precise, high-quality metal components from blueprints while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. Mig Welder Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Set up and operate welding machines that weld together and mass-produce component parts of fabricated metal products as specified by blueprints (read and understand weld symbols), layouts, welding procedures or oral instructions
- Join two pieces of metal to create a quality customer product using methods such as MIG welding; robot and spot weld included
- Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment
- Heat, form, and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment; ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc; analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
- Obtain specified electrode and insert electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun
- Connect cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified
- Start power supply to produce electric current; strike (forms) arc, which generates heat to melt and deposit metal from electrode to workpiece and join edges of workpiece
- Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle
- Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture
- Measure part dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
- May tack assemblies together
- May operate other machine shop equipment to prepare components for welding
- Work safely at all times and follow safety procedures
- Operate any equipment needed to perform job
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervision
Mig Welder Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to speak and read English
- Must consistently meet weld quality standards and demonstrate knowledge of MIG, stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum welding, and automated welding where applicable; must supply own hand tools
- 6 months to 1 year of related experience and/or vocational training, or experience in a metal fabrication shop
- Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without accommodations
