Job Description

SUMMARY Under minimal supervision, sets up and operates welding equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Operates welding equipment. MIG, TIG, and other types of welding equipment Operates torches, plasma cutter, grinders, brake, shear, saw and other metal fabricating equipment. Welds or fabricates a variety of materials, including aluminum, stainless steel and a variety of carbon steels. Reads Engineering Prints. Understands dimensions and tolerancing Verifies conformance to specified requirements Provides minor maintenance on welding and fabricating equipment. Uses PL software to determine schedule of parts to be manufactured.
MISCELLANEOUS RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. One year certificate from college or technical school; four years' experience and/or training in operating welding and metal fabricating equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Materials knowledge. Mechanical aptitude. Must be able to read blueprints. Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
