Job Title:
Welder Job Description This role involves performing arc and gas welding on a wide variety of metals and alloys, primarily in non-all-position applications. You will work on both commercial and military fabrications that involve critical safety and load requirements, following detailed specifications and welding codes. The position requires strong fabrication skills, the ability to plan and lay out work, and adherence to qualified welding procedures and customer contract requirements. Responsibilities Perform arc and gas welding on a wide variety of metals and their alloys, focusing on applications that do not require all-position welding. Work on commercial and military fabrications that involve critical safety and load requirements, ensuring high-quality and reliable welds. Plan, lay out, and perform diversified fabrication work based on job requirements and project specifications. Determine proper machine settings, including current, voltage, and travel speed, to achieve optimal weld quality for each application. Select appropriate gases and filler materials for specific base metals and welding processes in accordance with qualified procedures. Work from specifications, drawings, blueprints, work orders, and welding symbols to complete assignments accurately. Operate a ring roller and associated equipment as required to support fabrication and welding tasks. Follow qualified welding procedures in accordance with Mil-STD 248, ASME Section IX, or other code requirements specified by customer contracts. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety practices and procedures on the production floor. Collaborate with supervisors and team members to complete production schedules and meet quality standards. Perform other duties as designated by the supervisor within the same salary grade or below, as needed to support operations. Essential Skills At least 1 year of prior welding experience. Technical degree in welding. Ability to perform arc and gas welding on a variety of metals and alloys. Ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings, blueprints, work orders, and welding symbols. Capability to plan, lay out, and execute diversified fabrication work. Skill in determining proper machine settings, gas selection, and filler materials for specific base metals and processes. Ability to operate a ring roller and associated fabrication equipment. Understanding of and ability to work to qualified welding procedures in accordance with Mil-STD 248, ASME Section IX, or other applicable codes. Vocational or high school education or equivalent. Ability to learn and apply trade techniques and procedures through on-the-job training. Willingness and ability to work under some supervision while following established procedures and standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Completion of a vocational or technical program in welding is strongly preferred. On-the-job training experience that demonstrates familiarity with trade techniques and procedures. Up to 6,000 hours of experience to build a strong foundation in basic trade fundamentals as applied to millwright-related and fabrication work. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds on critical safety and load-bearing components. Ability to work effectively on projects related to military applications and other specialized fabrications. Strong work ethic and reliability in adhering to schedules and production requirements. Work Environment The role is based on an open production floor with great lighting, designed to support precision welding and fabrication work. The facility is very clean and quiet, providing a comfortable and professional setting for focused tasks. Multiple shifts are available to fit different scheduling needs: first shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday; second shift runs from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday; and a fourth (weekend) shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Positions are available on second and fourth shifts. You will work with welding equipment, ring rollers, and related fabrication tools on an organized production floor that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of North Mankato, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $53290.00 - $76960.00/yr.Competitive Compensation:
