Job Title:
Fabrication Welder - Custom Industrial Platforms Job Description This role focuses on fabricating and welding custom industrial work platforms, mezzanines, ladder platforms, stairs, and steps for specialized projects, including those in aerospace and government-funded environments. You will use MIG and TIG welding processes on aluminum, steel, and stainless steel to build high-quality, custom structures based on detailed blueprints and drawings. Responsibilities Perform MIG and TIG welding on aluminum, steel, and stainless steel components for customized platforms, mezzanines, ladders, stairs, and steps. Weld material in thicknesses ranging from 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch, ensuring strong, consistent, and visually acceptable welds. Fabricate parts according to blueprints and detailed drawings, producing fully custom products to exact specifications. Prepare materials by cleaning, cutting, burning, and fitting pieces prior to welding, using appropriate fabrication equipment and tools. Set up, measure, and assemble components accurately, ensuring correct dimensions and alignment before and after welding. Verify welding results by inspecting and testing welds, including checking bead size and other specified requirements. Use tape measures, layout tools, and fabrication fixtures to ensure precise fitting and structural integrity of assemblies. Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols to plan and execute fabrication and welding tasks effectively. Work efficiently in a production-oriented environment while maintaining high quality standards and safety practices. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years of MIG welding experience. Minimum of 2 years of MIG welding experience specifically on aluminum. Proficiency in MIG welding on aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. Ability to perform vertical and horizontal welds with consistent quality. Hands-on experience with TIG welding processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and detailed fabrication drawings for custom products. Experience examining welds for bead size and compliance with specifications. Skill in fabricating structures such as platforms, mezzanines, ladders, stairs, and steps. Proficiency in using fabrication tools and equipment for cleaning, preparing, cutting, burning, and welding materials. Strong blueprint reading and layout skills, including accurate measurement using a tape measure. Capability to work 50-60 hours per week as required by production demands. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on customized or one-off fabrication projects rather than strictly repetitive production. Experience with flux core welding processes. Familiarity with fitting and assembling structural components prior to welding. Experience working with sheet metal and structural steel fabrication. Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled shop environment. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, structurally sound welds. Why Work Here? The schedule typically requires 50-60 hours per week, reflecting a production-oriented setting with regular overtime. The environment involves standard industrial shop conditions, including exposure to noise, metal dust, heat, and active fabrication equipment, and requires appropriate protective attire and adherence to safety practices.
