Job Title:
Welder Job Description This role involves setting up, assembling, and welding metal components in a production environment using MIG welding techniques, work orders, blueprints, and jigs. You will work on an assembly line, focusing on one component at a time while maintaining flexibility to move between different areas as production needs change. The position requires strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing clean, accurate welds with thorough self-inspection. Responsibilities Set up, assemble, and weld products using MIG welding in accordance with work orders, jigs, and, when required, blueprints. Secure component parts in proper position using bolts, clamps, or tack welds prior to final welding. Retrieve and organize all parts and materials needed to complete daily production requirements. Perform Flat Fillet Welds, Vertical Down Fillet Welds, Flat Butt Welds, Horizontal Butt Welds, Pipe External Fillet Welds, and Pipe Internal Fillet Welds as required by the job. Work as part of an assembly-line operation, completing one component at a time to meet production targets and quality standards. Remain flexible and willing to work in several different areas throughout the day based on workflow and production priorities. Conduct thorough visual inspections of completed welds to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and that no welds are missed. Use hand tools and measuring tools, including tape measures, to verify dimensions and fit-up prior to welding. Use jigs correctly to position components and ensure consistency and repeatability in the welding process. Follow all work orders and production instructions carefully to ensure correct assembly and welding of parts. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety, efficiency, and product quality. Adhere strictly to attendance and punctuality expectations, arriving on time and ready to work at the start of each shift. Essential Skills At least 1 year of MIG welding experience. Proficiency in MIG welding in a production or similar environment. Ability to perform Flat Fillet Welds and Vertical Down Fillet Welds. Ability to perform Flat Butt Welds and Horizontal Butt Welds. Ability to perform Pipe External Fillet Welds and Pipe Internal Fillet Welds. Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce very clean, consistent welds. Ability to perform thorough visual inspections of own work to confirm weld quality and completeness. Ability to use basic hand tools safely and effectively. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately. Ability to use jigs to position and assemble parts for welding. Ability to read and follow work orders accurately. Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to start work on time each day. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required. Experience operating an overhead crane is a plus but not required. Ability to read blueprints is a plus but not required. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in an open-air warehouse environment equipped with large fans. Temperatures generally reflect the outdoor conditions, so it can be hot when the weather is hot and cold when the weather is cold. The schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with lunch at 11:30 a.m. and a break at 2:15 p.m. Friday lunch is paid if you stay on-site. The facility uses turnstiles that lock after the workday starts, so arriving on time is essential. The setting is production-focused, with an assembly-line layout and typical industrial noise and activity. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clarksdale, MS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
