Pipe Welder

POSITION SUMMARY
The Welder must work safely and productively on various sized Industrial Construction project sites. A successful candidate in this role must be highly motivated, with a positive attitude, and willing to complete any task assigned with limited supervision, along with performing the essential duties of the Welder position. All employees are expected to communicate, build relationships with other team members, and always use good judgment. The Welder is expected to have the ability to perform all duties of the positions preceding it in its specific career path, while being responsible and accountable to complete any other tasks assigned.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Performs all essential job functions of a Welder as well as supporting coworkers. Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits while performing his job function. Must be able to weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions, in a shop as well as an Industrial environment. Must be able to operate acetylene torch, needed power tools and operate welding machines without assistance or direction. Must be able to detect faulty equipment and or defective materials and notify supervisors. Clamps, holds, tack-welds, heat-bends, grinds, or bolts component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding with limited supervision. Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as stick welding and mig welding. Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts of warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials. Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications during the welding process. Recognizes, set ups, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. Will lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, rulers, and tape measure. Is responsible for managing how much time he uses on a project and the time of others that might be in his crew. Is responsible for routine maintenance inspection of equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Conveys information effectively so that the job can be completed in the manner and time it should be. Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources before starting a project. Must use controlled mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes not including computers or vehicles. Measures, cuts, splices, fastens, and/or welds Structural steel beams, angle, plate, flat bar, or other support material and places it according to drawings and specifications. Fits and fabricates Structural steel weldments and completes fitting and fabrication activities including welding, cutting, grinding, drilling, reaming, boring. Performs field welds as designated on construction blueprintsAWS D1.1
Welding Certification test will be required. Must be able to travel at times with no distractions or impact of project. Observes all OSHA / Company safety rules, regulations, and guidelines. Reports any job site and/or WB employee related safety violation(s) to appropriate supervisory personnel. Serves as a safe and productive member of a construction crew/team with a positive attitude. Performs all assigned tasks, responsibilities, and related work processes in the safest possible manner, always ensuring that a safe, accident/incident-free work environment is maintained for all coworkers, clients, suppliers, etc. at all times. ID21 Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or GED- preferred Apprenticeship
