Position Summary:
The MIG Fixture Fabricator is responsible for designing, building, modifying, and maintaining welding fixtures. This position plays a critical role in supporting production efficiency, product quality, and operator safety by creating fixtures that enable consistent and timely manufacturing of welded components.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Design, fabricate, and assemble welding fixtures, jigs, templates, and tooling to support MIG welding operations.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and production requirements to develop effective fixture solutions.
  • Build fixtures that improve production efficiency, part consistency, and welding quality.
  • Modify existing fixtures as needed to accommodate engineering changes, quality improvements, or production requirements.
  • Troubleshoot fixture-related issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, quality, and welding personnel to identify fixture needs and process improvements.
  • Ensure fixtures are designed for safe operation and ergonomic use by welding personnel.
  • Verify fixture dimensions and functionality through measurements, testing, and trial runs.
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on existing fixtures and tooling.
  • Utilize welding, cutting, grinding, drilling, machining, and fabrication equipment to manufacture fixtures.
  • Maintain an organized work area and properly store tools, materials, and completed fixtures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Minimum of 2 years of fabrication, welding, tooling, or fixture-building experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of MIG welding processes and manufacturing practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and weld symbols.
  • Proficient in the use of measuring instruments, including tape measures, calipers, squares, and layout tools.
  • Experience operating fabrication equipment such as welders, saws, grinders, drills, and other metalworking machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with others.
License or Certificate required:
  • Forklift experience Physical Aspects of the position: A typical workday might include: Prolonged periods of walking and standing in a manufacturing environment, ability to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities, pushing/pulling product, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds - unassisted, grasping, grabbing, using hands, hand/eye coordination with attention to detail.
