Califon, NJSummaryThis role is a crucial part of the multi-step process involved in creating products from diverse alloys. The Welder utilizes a range of welding equipment set up in various positions (flat, vertical, horizontal, overhead) to permanently join metal components. The position also involves managing paperwork associated with the product's progression through the production sequence.

Responsibilities Perform manual and semiautomatic weldingInspect welds to ensure they meet specified standards during the welding processIdentify and address product defectsConduct dimensional measurements on products before and after weldingReport equipment or product issuesBrief the incoming shift on work in progressEnsure forklifts are in good working condition for loading and unloadingMaintain product identification for traceability before and after workVerify that shop router and product material match and that the router is signed off by the prior departmentPrioritize safety, adhering to company safety requirements, and remaining aware of surroundings at all timesQualificationsProficiency in loading and unloading material onto welding equipment without damaging the productAbility to read and understand welding proceduresCompetency in various welding positions, including flat, vertical, horizontal, and overheadProficiency in various welding techniques, such as TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), and ARCSkill in selecting and setting up welding equipmentExperience with lift trucks and/or successful completion of Lift Truck competency reviewBasic knowledge of different welding techniques and welding equipmentWillingness to progress through in-service training at specified timeframesAccurate reading of tape measures and other measuring toolsDemonstrated initiative and the ability to work independentlyAttention to detailEducation and/or ExperienceCompletion of a trade school welding training program or relevant experience (may be substituted)High School diploma or GEDIndustry welding certifications are a plusPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
