Job Title:
Brazing Technician Job Description This role focuses on assembling and joining metal components using heat and filler materials to create strong, leak-proof, and durable joints. The position supports production in manufacturing environments such as HVAC, aerospace, plumbing, or related industries by performing precise brazing operations and ensuring all work meets technical specifications and quality standards. Responsibilities Clean and prepare metal surfaces to ensure proper bonding prior to brazing. Align, position, and secure parts using clamps, fixtures, or jigs to maintain correct orientation during the brazing process. Apply appropriate flux and filler metal to joint areas to promote proper flow and adhesion. Use torches, induction heaters, or furnaces to heat metal parts to the required brazing temperature. Monitor temperature and heating time closely to achieve consistent, high-quality bonds. Inspect finished joints for strength, leaks, and conformity to specifications using visual checks and other inspection methods. Perform pressure tests or other required tests to verify the integrity of brazed joints. Identify and correct defects or inconsistencies in brazed assemblies to meet quality requirements. Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders accurately. Follow detailed written and verbal instructions to meet product specifications and production targets. Work independently to complete assigned tasks while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Handle and move materials and components safely, including lifting items up to 50 lbs as needed. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with brazing, welding, or soldering processes. Proficiency in brazing copper joints using an open flame torch. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders. Understanding of evacuation of refrigerant transfer equipment and related industry best practices. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate, leak-proof, and durable joints. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with hand tools and brazing equipment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality standards. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time. Capability to work safely and effectively in high-temperature environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous brazing, welding, or soldering experience in a manufacturing or similar environment. Post-secondary education or equivalent related experience in a mechanical, technical, or trade-related field. Familiarity with quality control practices, including visual inspections and pressure testing. Comfort working with jigs, fixtures, and other alignment tools to ensure accurate assembly. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and following strict safety practices around heat, flames, and pressurized systems. Appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment are used to ensure safety and comfort while performing daily tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plattsburgh, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
