Job Title:
Class B Fitter/Welder Pay:
$23-$26 Shift M-F 5am-3:30pm Job Description The Class B Fitter/Welder will perform high‑quality welding and fitting work on steel components in a first‑shift fabrication environment. The role requires successfully passing 3G and 6G MIG and flux core weld tests and completing all work in accordance with ASME Code requirements. The position involves interpreting blueprints, operating fabrication and welding equipment, and contributing to a safe, collaborative, and team‑oriented workplace. Responsibilities Perform MIG, TIG, and flux core welding on steel components in accordance with ASME Code requirements. Pass and maintain qualification for 3G and 6G MIG and flux core weld tests, including plate tests as required. Fit and assemble steel parts and structures using fabrication techniques to meet dimensional and quality specifications. Interpret and work from blueprints and fabrication drawings to plan and execute welding and fitting tasks accurately. Operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently, following established procedures and best practices. Inspect welds and fitted assemblies for quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety rules and reporting any hazards or incidents promptly. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow, meet production schedules, and resolve issues. Handle materials and components in a manner that prevents damage and supports efficient fabrication processes. Follow all company policies, procedures, and work instructions related to welding, fitting, and equipment operation. Essential Skills Proven ability to perform MIG welding on steel components. Proven ability to perform TIG welding on steel components. Proficiency in flux core welding processes. Ability to successfully complete 3G MIG and flux core weld tests. Ability to successfully complete 6G MIG and flux core weld tests, including plate tests where required. Demonstrated experience working in accordance with ASME Code welding requirements. Strong fitting skills for steel fabrication, including layout, measurement, and assembly. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately. Competent operation of welding and fabrication equipment in a production environment. Commitment to working safely and maintaining a safe work environment. Ability to work effectively as part of a team on a busy first‑shift schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a fabrication shop environment. Familiarity with structural and other steel materials used in fabrication. Strong attention to detail and quality in both welding and fitting. Ability to manage time effectively to meet production goals. Willingness to learn and follow company‑specific procedures and standards. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a first‑shift role in a steel fabrication shop, typically working Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The environment involves regular use of MIG, TIG, and flux core welding equipment, as well as standard fabrication tools and machinery. Work is performed around steel materials and fabricated assemblies, with a strong focus on safety practices and adherence to ASME Code requirements. The setting is team‑oriented and production‑driven, with clear expectations for quality, efficiency, and safe equipment operation. Appropriate industrial workwear and personal protective equipment are required to perform the job safely. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Collinsville, OK. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
