Job Description

Hiring Welder's 2nd Shift $20-24/hr! Job Description This role involves performing flux core welding on mild steel to fabricate barges while working as part of a coordinated team under the direction of a supervisor. You will use various welding processes, interpret blueprints, and contribute to high-quality structural fabrication in a demanding outdoor environment. Responsibilities Perform flux core welding on mild steel components to fabricate and assemble barges according to specifications. Use MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes as needed to complete structural and fabrication tasks. Read and interpret blueprints to understand weld symbols, dimensions, and fabrication requirements. Set up, operate, and adjust welding equipment and tools to achieve strong, clean, and accurate welds. Execute tack welding and fitting duties to position and secure parts prior to final welding. Work with a variety of materials, including stainless steel, carbon steel, and structural steel. Follow instructions from the supervisor and collaborate effectively with team members to meet production goals. Participate in an on-site weld school, when offered, and apply learned techniques on the production floor. Adhere to all safety procedures, including use of required personal protective equipment and safe handling of materials. Maintain a clean and organized work area in an outdoor, high-heat environment. Essential Skills Previous welding experience of at least 3 to 6 months. Proficiency in flux core welding on mild steel. Ability to perform MIG welding and TIG welding. Ability to read and interpret blueprints for fabrication and welding work. Experience with tack welding and fitting components prior to final welds. Familiarity with working on stainless steel, carbon steel, and structural steel. Capability to pass a weld test (1F-5F positions) as part of the interview process. Ability to work effectively as part of a team under the direction of a supervisor. Comfort working in an outdoor environment that can be very hot. Additional Skills & Qualifications Any prior welding experience, including entry-level or training-based experience, is considered. Experience in fabrication environments involving flux core, MIG, and TIG welding processes. Comfort using various welding tools and equipment in a production setting. Willingness to participate in a two-week on-site weld school, if offered, before working on the production floor. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in an outdoor environment that can be very hot and physically demanding. Work is performed around steel structures and welding equipment, requiring consistent attention to safety and proper handling of materials. The schedule follows a Monday-Friday format with a first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a second shift from 3:15 p.m. to 12:45 a.m. Dress code includes steel-toe, ankle-high leather boots, long sleeves, and long pants for protection. Contact lenses are not permitted due to welding smoke and particles, so appropriate eye protection must be used in accordance with safety guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashland City, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.30 - $21.30/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
