Based out of Chattanooga, TN with travel to project sites throughout the United States Job Summary Chambers Welding & Fabrication, Corp. is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Travel Ironworker / Welder-Fabricator to join our growing team. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and take pride in producing quality work safely and efficiently. As a Travel Ironworker, you will install, maintain, and repair structural steel and miscellaneous metals on a variety of construction and industrial job sites. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, advanced rigging abilities, proficiency in multiple welding processes, and experience operating heavy equipment. You must be willing to travel extensively and work as part of a team committed to excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Install, erect, align, and repair structural steel and miscellaneous iron components. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and field layouts. Weld and fabricate components using various welding processes including: SMAW (Stick) FCAW (Flux-Core) GMAW (MIG) GTAW (TIG) as required Fit, fabricate, and modify steel components in the field to ensure proper installation. Bolt-up and connect structural members according to specifications.
Safely operate heavy equipment including:
Cranes Forklifts Boom lifts Telehandlers Backhoes Excavators Boom trucks Perform rigging activities utilizing proper load calculations, slings, shackles, chain falls, and lifting techniques. Signal crane operators during lifting operations when required. Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment to and from job sites. Drive company vehicles in accordance with all DOT regulations and company policies. Assist with warehouse activities including receiving, staging, inventory, and shipping of materials. Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in proper working condition. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and all company safety procedures. Participate in daily safety meetings and job hazard analyses. Assist with project setup, mobilization, demobilization, and job site cleanup. Work overtime, weekends, and extended shifts as project schedules require. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of ironworking, structural steel erection, or related construction experience preferred. Demonstrated welding and fabrication experience required. Ability to pass company welding tests. Experience operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Strong knowledge of rigging practices and load handling procedures. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and structural drawings. Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and construction site procedures. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. CDL is preferred but not required. NCCCO certification is a plus. AWS certifications are a plus. Forklift and aerial lift certifications are preferred. Must be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and structural steel. Ability to work at heights while utilizing fall protection equipment. Ability to kneel, crouch, bend, crawl, push, pull, and stand for extended periods. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind. Must have sufficient vision and hearing to safely perform all essential functions. Travel Requirements Extensive travel is required. Overnight and multi-week assignments should be expected. Employees may work in industrial facilities, commercial construction sites, bridges, manufacturing plants, and other demanding environments throughout the country.
