Job Description

Field Welder/Fabricator (Traveling Installation Team) Job Overview Chambers Welding & Fabrication is seeking a highly skilled Field Welder/Fabricator who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and is ready to travel to job sites and lead installation work . This role is ideal for someone who prefers being in the field over the shop —installing structural steel, performing on-site repairs, and solving real-world challenges. You will represent our company on job sites, ensuring all work is completed to AWS standards, project specifications, and our reputation for high-quality craftsmanship . We are looking for someone dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or leading small crews while maintaining productivity, safety, and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Perform on-site welding and fabrication for structural steel, repairs, equipment, and custom installations Execute field installations including stairs, handrails, platforms, structural components, and miscellaneous metals Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols to complete installs accurately Perform MIG, FCAW, and Stick welding in field conditions (TIG is a plus) Handle layout, fit-up, and final installation with minimal supervision Operate equipment such as torches, grinders, mag drills, and portable fabrication tools Assist with or perform rigging, setting steel, and coordinating lifts safely Ensure all work meets

standards and company quality expectations Troubleshoot issues in the field and adjust as needed to keep projects moving Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on all job sites Travel to out-of-town and out-of-state projects as required What We're Looking For Strong experience in field welding and installation (not just shop work) Proven ability to work independently on job sites with minimal direction Solid understanding of construction environments and job site expectations Proficiency in MIG and FCAW welding (Stick required; TIG is a plus) Ability to read and execute from blueprints and field measurements Experience with structural installs, repairs, and miscellaneous metals Comfortable with travel and working varying schedules based on project needs Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in the field Valid driver's license required Preferred (But Not Required) AWS certifications (D1.1 or similar) Experience with rigging, forklifts, or aerial lifts Previous experience leading small crews or managing installs Why Join Chambers Welding & Fabrication Opportunity to travel and work on diverse, high-level projects Be part of a team known for fixing and correcting complex welding issues Work that is hands-on, challenging, and never repetitive Growth opportunities for those who show leadership and initiative Ideal Candidate Someone who: Prefers the field over the shop Takes pride in clean, high-quality welds and installs Can show up to a job site and get the job done right the first time Is reliable, professional, and represents the company well on-site
