A strong knowledge of welding techniques and metal properties; must be able to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints and drawings; experience with specialized types of welding equipment and procedures as well as electrical and manual tools such as saws, squares and calipers; knowledge of safety standards and adherence to protective clothing and gear is critical; must have great attention to detail, be flexible and able to contort their bodies to fit in unusual spaces; relevant training and professional certifications may also be required. Prefer prior lead or supervisory experience in an environment with fit up and welding gauge steel, plate, beam, and tubing.
