The GTAW Tack Welder derives his/her authority from the GTAW Lead and or Production Supervisor. The GTAW Tack Welder has sufficient authority to exercise the responsibilities and perform the duties assigned by the GTAW Lead and or Production Supervisor. Duties Utilize routine work orders and engineering drawings, written and/or verbal instructions to build and/or repair assemblies and components. Set-up and running of various welding machines to tack stainless steels and other high purity alloys. Performs task such as tacking / tweaking. Set-up and lay out work using jigs/fixtures to fabricate parts and/or rework finish products. Must have knowledge of welding with internal argon purge achieving 10 PPM. Fabricate within dimensional tolerances as low as 0.010" and angle tolerances as low as 0.5 degrees. Performs checks to ensure all necessary parts are available to perform fabrication and repair. Inspect parts for defects. Entry level understanding of AWS weld symbols. Comply with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations. Work as a team member to aid others in encouraging and maintaining departmental standards including quality and on-time delivery goals. Assist the shop with general upkeep. Perform a variety of complicated tasks, as required. Skills Proficiency in welding techniques and equipment operation. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues. Familiarity with construction site operations and safety practices. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to welding tasks. Experience working with sheet metal, including cutting, bending, and assembling components. Familiarity with ASME Section IX BPVC compliance. Knowledge of industry codes and standards relevant to welding practices.
