Job Description

2nd Shift Job Summary The Sub Arc Welder is responsible for setting up and operating automated or semi-automatic submerged arc welding (SAW) equipment to join heavy metal components. This role involves monitoring the welding process, ensuring high-quality welds on thick materials, and adhering to strict safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities Setup & Operation:
Set up, program, and operate SAW machines (e.g., tractor, column, and boom).
Welding Process:
Thread electrode wire through feed rolls, fill flux hoppers, and adjust voltage, amperage, and travel speed.
Fabrication:
Weld long longitudinal or circumferential seams on large structural components, pressure vessels, or pipes.
Quality Inspection:
Visually inspect welds and use gauges to ensure compliance with specifications.
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including cleaning flux and checking wire feed.
Material Handling:
Utilize overhead cranes and rigging to position heavy components.
Safety:
Adhere to safety procedures, including the use of PPE for protection against noise, dust, and fumes.
Qualifications Experience:
1-5 years of experience with submerged arc welding in heavy plate or structural steel environments.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read and interpret blue prints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of welding techniques, metallurgy, and distortion control.
Certification:
AWS (American Welding Society) certification preferred.
Physical:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in seated operator stations, sometimes at heights. INDTXGA Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
