Job Description

SCM is seeking a talented TIG/MIG Welder/Fabricator to join our team. A qualified candidate will, under general supervision, weld various types of metal parts, frames, and machined assemblies. This position reports to the Fabrication Supervisor.
Job Skills to include:
Reading and interpreting engineering prints and/or manufacturing bills of material, and/or verbal/written instructions to determine necessary requirements for the job. Select welding procedures best suited for the type of work and materials involved. Use various techniques to obtain proper penetration, fusion and strength, offset distortion and maintain alignment. Assemble/weld parts in jigs or fixtures as required. Use appropriate measuring tools to inspect and verify conformance of parts to specifications/tolerances. Strictly follow all safety requirements for welding, forklift truck, hoist operations and housekeeping.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge of metallurgical aspects of various types of material. Must be a team player, enthusiastic, motivated, and self-driven. Regular attendance and daily punctuality are required. High School diploma or GED. Technical school welding certification training preferred. Ability to read mechanical engineering drawings. Brake Press experience a plus. Knowledge of various grinding/weld finishing tools. Sufficient physical strength to lift various materials weighing 50 pounds. Knowledge of precision measuring procedures. Good organizational skills.
