Pipe Welder-Shipyard Avail Staffing Company - 5.0 Norfolk, VA Job Details Full-time $26 - $32 an hour 3 hours ago Benefits Opportunities for advancement Qualifications Mechanical blueprint interpretation Blueprint specification interpretation Pipe blueprint interpretation Pipe welding Full Job Description Position Summary Avail Staffing is seeking experienced Pipe Welders to support ship repair and new construction projects in a fast-paced shipyard environment. Candidates must have experience welding various pipe systems aboard naval or commercial vessels while maintaining high-quality workmanship and strict safety standards. Responsibilities Perform SMAW, GTAW, and FCAW welding on pipe systems aboard ships and submarines Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding procedures Fabricate, fit, and weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel piping systems Prepare pipe surfaces for welding, including grinding, beveling, and alignment Complete welding in confined spaces, elevated areas, and shipboard environments Conduct pipe repairs, replacements, and new installations according to NAVSEA and shipyard standards Operate hand tools, grinders, torches, and welding equipment safely and efficiently Maintain clean and organized work areas while following OSHA and shipyard safety requirements Work closely with pipefitters, supervisors, and QA inspectors to meet production schedules Qualifications Minimum 3 years of pipe welding experience in a shipyard, industrial, or marine environment Proficient in SMAW (Stick), GTAW (TIG), and/or FCAW welding processes Ability to pass a hands-on welding test Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel pipe systems preferred Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols Knowledge of NAVSEA standards is a plus Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces Reliable transportation and strong attendance required Preferred Certifications OSHA 10 Shipyard Badging or DBIDS Access Benefits Competitive Pay Overtime Opportunities Weekly Pay Career Growth Opportunities
