Job Description

Position Summary The Welder/Brazer 1 is responsible for performing soldering, brazing, welding, and metal joining operations on a variety of metal components and assemblies. This role supports production by ensuring strong, leak-free, and high-quality joints while maintaining safety, quality, and delivery standards. The position works under close supervision and follows established procedures, work instructions, and engineering specifications to complete routine production tasks. Key Responsibilities Perform soldering, brazing, welding, and related metal joining operations on components and assemblies Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions Prepare materials and parts for joining, including cleaning, fitting, clamping, and flux application Operate torches, soldering irons, welding equipment, and related tools safely and effectively Inspect completed joints and assemblies for quality, strength, tolerances, and conformance to specifications Monitor and maintain proper temperature control and material handling throughout joining processes Support fabrication of metal pipes and equipment by maintaining tools and ensuring a clean and organized work environment Move, position, and clamp workpieces and provide support to other welders/brazers as needed Maintain stock levels of required materials and supplies Follow instructions to adjust welding or brazing equipment settings and temperatures Document completed work and maintain accurate production and quality records Identify and report defects, inconsistencies, equipment issues, safety risks, and hazards Comply with all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives Job Level Description Works under close supervision with little to no discretion and receives detailed instructions to complete daily work activities Demonstrates limited use and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts Acquires job skills and learns to complete routine tasks Follows clearly defined procedures and detailed verbal/written instructions Performs routine or well-defined tasks with standardized solutions Refers non-routine issues to higher levels Supports day-to-day production objectives with some impact on team results Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or vocational/technical education in a related discipline preferred Previous soldering, brazing, welding, manufacturing, or assembly experience preferred Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation Basic understanding of welding/brazing equipment and metal joining techniques Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards Ability to safely use hand tools, measuring devices, and production equipment Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and PPE requirements Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts Ability to lift and move materials and equipment up to 35 lbs. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, fumes, and industrial equipment Work Environment Manufacturing and production environment requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, face shields, and other required protective gear.
