Job Title:
Swing Prefab Operator Job Description The Swing Prefab Operator sets up and operates fabrication equipment to cut and prepare structural components according to detailed drawings and diagrams. This role focuses on the layout and assembly or sub-assembly of structural components prior to welding, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency throughout the pre-welding process. Responsibilities Set up and operate fabrication equipment to cut metal parts according to drawings and diagrams. Perform basic layout of structural steel assemblies prior to fitting and welding. Lay out, assemble, and sub-assemble structural components in preparation for the welding process. Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to determine correct dimensions, layouts, and cutting requirements. Use cutting equipment and tools safely and effectively to produce accurate parts. Measure materials and components using a tape measure to verify dimensions and tolerances. Operate machines such as press brakes and related fabrication equipment as needed. Select and install appropriate tooling and dies for specific fabrication tasks. Inspect completed parts and assemblies for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures in a busy fabrication shop environment. Lift, move, and position materials and components, including items weighing up to 50 pounds, as part of daily duties. Essential Skills Proven ability to operate cutting equipment in a fabrication or similar industrial environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and diagrams for structural components. Skill in performing basic layout of structural steel assemblies prior to fitting and welding. Proficiency in using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools accurately. Experience with machine operation in a fabrication setting, including setup and basic adjustments. Ability to work safely with fabrication tools, equipment, and materials. Physical ability to stand on feet for an entire shift and perform frequent bending, twisting, and kneeling. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds periodically as part of normal job duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating a press brake in a metal fabrication environment. Familiarity with tooling and dies selection and use for various fabrication processes. Experience in structural steel fabrication or similar heavy industrial fabrication work. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a fabrication team. Temperatures can be hot in the summer and cool in the winter, and you will be on your feet for the entire shift. The work involves frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, and handling of heavy materials, including lifting up to 50 pounds periodically. Standard industrial safety practices apply, and appropriate personal protective equipment is used throughout the shop. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
