Job Description Position Title:
Structural MIG Heavy Plate Welder Wage:
Up to $28.00/hour (Based on Experience)

  • 3:30pm We're seeking an experienced Structural MIG Heavy Plate Welder to join our fabrication team.
This role involves welding large structural components and heavy plate material in a custom job shop environment (not production welding). The ideal candidate will have strong experience welding thick plate, performing vertical welds, and working with heavy fabrication equipment.
Structural MIG Heavy Plate Welder Responsibilities:
  • Perform structural MIG welding on heavy plate materials up to 2" thick
  • Weld using .045 and 3/16 wire
  • Execute vertical-up welds and other structural weld positions
  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings and weld symbols
  • Perform fit-up and welding of large structural components
  • Operate shop equipment including drill press and band saw / saw equipment
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move heavy material
  • Maintain weld quality consistent with structural fabrication standards
  • Work in a job shop environment producing custom weldments Requirements for
Structural MIG Heavy Plate Welder:
  • Experience with Structural MIG welding on heavy plate
  • Ability to weld up to 2" plate thickness
  • Proven experience with .045 and 3/16 wire
  • Ability to perform vertical-up welds
  • Previous experience in a machine shop or heavy fabrication environment
  • Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, drill presses and saws
  • Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols
  • Strong attention to quality and safety
  • AWS structural welding experience or certification preferred
  • Experience in custom fabrication / job shop environment preferred
  • Experience with large weldments or heavy equipment components is a plus IND159
