Welder FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt Summary Under the supervision of the Shop Foreman, the Welder performs production GMAW (MIG) welding on sub-parts and main assemblies for modular frames, basic structural shapes, and other custom metal fabrications. The Welder should be able to read blue prints, and understand basic AWS welding symbols/sizes, and have basic blueprint reading/interpretation skills. Looking to add reliable and dependable welders to our growing team at Doral! This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. 1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints to weld to 100% accuracy in quality/visual standards according to AWS D1.1 and customer approved blueprint. 2. Operate welding machine and maintain "in spec" machine parameters according to the application requirements. This includes selecting correct wire/gas requirements on a job by job basis. 3. Ability to work diligently and independently when all scope/requirements are communicated by shop foreman. Ability to communicate progress on a job is critical to meet customer dates/deadlines. 4. (If Necessary) Operate processing equipment related to project requirements. Includes EMI Plasma Cutting machine, tube bending, handrail projection layout. 5. Use proper abrasive techniques to put customer desired finish on product. 6. Use proper cleaning tools to clean a project to customer specification. 7. Understand typical American Welding Society (AWS) welding symbols. 8. Use various precision measuring equipment to check work. 9. Operate hoist, cranes, riggings, dollies and trucks to move equipment from one location to another. 10. Operate iPad to track work completion and quality tracking. 11. Ability to communicate with co-workers and manager to discuss project requirements, collaboration (as required). 12. Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures. 13. Comply with all safety and sanitation regulations. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma with maintenance related courses. Five years welding experience and experience in industrial miscellaneous metals fabrication, such as hand railings, stairs, and guardrails, is preferred. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as layouts, blueprints, sketches, and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one situations to other employees in the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and circumference. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Other Qualifications Requires the ability to operate various equipment to include welding equipment, forklift, hoists, riggings, and various hand and power tools. Requires a broad knowledge of mechanics, metal properties, welding techniques and maintenance procedures and practices.AWS D1.1
