Job Description

Marketing Student Position Overview The Health Education Resource Office (HERO) is a source for KU student wellness through partnerships that support innovative approaches toward optimal health while maximizing academic and professional success. This student marketing position is to assist the Communications Coordinators with various marketing projects to promote health-related services, programs, events, etc. The incumbent must have exceptional creativity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The incumbent in this position will see, hear, and possibly have access to confidential information that must be handled in accordance with all relevant state and federal laws and university policies and procedures regarding its use and disclosure. HERO utilizes computer technology in all aspects of its operations. The incumbent must become familiar with and be able to use the appropriate computer hardware and software programs associated with this position. The incumbent must become familiar with and adhere to the Watkins Health Center Customer Experience Plan to ensure appropriate interaction and positive outcomes with both internal and external customers.   • Assist the Communications Coordinators with various marketing projects to promote health-related services, programs, events, etc. 25%
  • Create print and digital materials. 25%
  • Develop social media messages. 15%
  • Suggest new tactics/ideas for keeping up with emerging trends among college students. 5%
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Availability to work in 3-hour blocks of time. Possess excellent organization, communication, and creative skills as shown in application materials. High level of proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other graphic design software as shown in application materials. Submit a resume and cover letter. Preferred Qualifications Sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate level student. Work study eligible. Prior experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment as shown in application materials. Prior experience with photography/videography as shown in application materials. Knowledge of medical/health terminology. Position Requirements During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for
GRA/GTA/GA
appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments). Employment Conditions (1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR. (2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
