Advertising Manager The Linn News - Central City, Iowa (weekly newspaper) Owned by Nelson Media Company Commission-Based Position (salary included) with Strong Income Potential Overview The Linn News is seeking a motivated Advertising Manager to sell both print and digital advertising for our weekly newspaper serving Central City and communities north of Cedar Rapids. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with local businesses, building strong relationships, and helping a trusted community newspaper grow. We are willing to train the right person. Sales experience is preferred, but not required for a motivated and relationship-driven individual. Position Focus This position is centered on advertising sales. You will work with local businesses, organizations, schools, and community partners to create effective advertising solutions across print and digital platforms — supporting both their growth and strong local journalism in Central City and the greater north Cedar Rapids area. Key Responsibilities Sell print advertising in the weekly Linn News Sell digital advertising, including website ads, e-edition placements, social media advertising, and sponsored content Build and maintain strong relationships with local business owners and organizations Prospect and develop new business opportunities throughout the coverage area Develop simple advertising ideas or collaborate with our design team to create effective ads Manage sales leads, client communication, and follow-ups independently Represent The Linn News professionally within the community Skills & Qualifications Sales, advertising, or marketing experience preferred Strong communication and relationship-building skills Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently Basic understanding of digital and social media advertising is helpful but not required Willingness to learn — we will train the right candidate Compensation Commission-based compensation (with salary included) Unlimited earning potential for a driven salesperson Flexible schedule with work based in Central City and partially remote How to Apply Email your resume or a brief introduction to: Chris Nelson CEO & President Nelson Media Company cnelson@nelsonmediacompany.com
